Emergency Shelter
Apartments
The six apartments that make up our shelter have been called “home” by many newcomers to Canada. Each unit is fully furnished and equipped with the basic necessities. A coin-operated washer and dryer is also available.
Food Bank and Resource Centre
Our food bank is stocked by donations from The Hope Centre and The Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 4. Along with the donations to our food bank The Legion have also generously provided small appliances, blankets, pillows, pots and pans and other household items.
Personal Space and Community
In addition to the basic amenities it is important that newcomers are able to enjoy some “personal space” in a safe environment at such a traumatic time in their lives.
Our Settlement Staff develop a close working relationship with their clients while assisting them to establish themselves in the community. The Counsellors provide information, referral and direction with many aspects of settlement from registering with social services to ensuring the proper outerwear required to face our cold Canadian winters.
