Message from the President

It has been my privilege to serve this exciting agency through all the growing pains in the last few years with the huge influx of people coming to Niagara from all parts of the world to it’s impressive and consistent growth. Our Centre is a “happening place”. It is a very busy, fast paced environment with people coming and going.

The Board and staff are extremely proud of the beautiful Welland Canal Memorial Monument that is the highlight of Merritt Park on King Street. We never thought we would be monument builders when we came on this Board but it is something we can all be very proud of.

I would like to thank the representatives and members of the cultural halls for your continued support to the Welland Heritage Council and Multicultural Centre. The Folklore Festival and International Luncheons are annual celebrations of our diversity. Your participation in community events that create awareness of a city of diverse cultures is encouraging newer cultural groups to be formed.

Our strength lies in being one voice when issues arise that can be addressed for the good of all the membership. We have had a few challenges that we were able to overcome by working together.

As president of the Welland Heritage Council and Multicultural Centre, I wish to thank the Executive and the Board of Directors for their dedication and assistance.

To all members of the staff, thank you for your dedication and encouragement to all the immigrants who are dreaming of a new life.

Remember you play a starring role in someone’s happy memories.

Ann Simunic
President
