Child Minding Centre
Our Child Minding centre is supervised by qualified Early Childhood Educators who provide daily, theme-related, structured and open-ended activities for children of all ages. These stimulating activities are designed to enhance fine-and gross-motor skills, music and movement, social and cognitive skills, math and language skills.
It is important to develop and guide children from their early years to prepare them for elementary school. The children enrolled at the Welland Heritage Council Child Minding Centre are equipped for success in life since they will learn new skills, strengthen their confidence and they will create healthy relationships with their peers.
Language skills are enhanced through daily songs, stories, actions and table activities. A “Word Wall” is created as each letter is taught. Most children can identify the letters in each word and many children can read the words with little or no assistance. Watching the children progress throughout the months is amazing.
Our schedule is busy but the most important experience the children have in learning is through play. The centre is set up where the children can freely enhance their creative art skills, sensory skills, experiment and make scientific observations, role-play in the dramatic play area and so much more. Our centre also provides many multicultural toys, storybooks and resources for both the children and staff to use.
The selection of daily snacks for the children are based on Canada’s Food Guide. During this time the children learn to respect and understand the importance in the needs of the diversity in other cultures.
Niagara Regional Public Health assists in providing information about nutrition and immunization and many other areas. Our child minding- staff works with many agencies throughout Niagara to provide support to the children and parents.
The Regional Municipality of Niagara - Ontario Works provide support for our Child-Minding Centre. Contact us for more information.
